EAST WENATCHEE – In response to concerns about COVID-19 transmission in the Bridgeport community, the Chelan-Douglas Health District offered free, voluntary COVID-19 testing between August 25, 2020 through August 27, 2020.
303 self-administered tests were completed, with three individuals testing positive for COVID-19. Community health workers are working to provide resources and wrap around services for those three individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.
This effort would not have been possible without the dedication and hardwork of community outreach workers and local community members from Bridgeport who worked tirelessly to inform their friends and neighbors about the opportunity for free, voluntary COVID-19 testing.
The Chelan-Douglas Health District has identified Rock City as the next testing location. On Tuesday, September 1 walk up/drive up free, voluntary self-administered testing will be available at the Rock Island Volunteer Fire Department from 1:00 pm through 7:00 pm. Wednesday, September 2 through Friday, September 4, community health workers will offer self-administered tests in a door-to-door effort in Rock Island.
Community members interested in assisting with these compensated outreach efforts are asked to contact CDHD for more information.
